What is a "spoken word" show?

Spoken Word is the term given to performance poetry and acting out monologues. The performance is like any other concert/show that you might attend, instead of the performer playing an instrument or giving a lecture, the performer entertains and educates through the use of exciting, fun, often funny poetry and monologues.

Poetry? Is that going to work for our teens?

The type of poetry we're talking about here is extremely accessible. Click on these buttons to get a sense of the flavor. Pandora Scooter has performed for teens across the country and always goes over amazingly powerfully and effectively.

Is this show about hating straight people?

No. Absolutely not. This show is about including everyone and making everyone feel fabulous about themselves no matter what their sexual orientation, race, gender, religion, politics, gender identification or appearance.

Does OUTwordlyFabulous only defend gay kids?

No. The messages in the show defend all kids from the problems associated with homophobia. Homophobia affects everyone -- straight and gay kids alike. Straight kids are called gay all the time and it hurts them as much as it hurts the kids who are gay.

Plus, homophobia creates a climate of fear and oppression for everyone in any particular environment - whether it's a school, a church or university.

OUTwordlyFabulous includes poems about avoiding name-calling of all kinds, bullying of all types and supporting kids of all backgrounds and walks and talks.
